Our finding: the highest-income suburb in our ranking is Riverview, NSW, with a median household income of $246,012 a year.

We ranked every residential suburb (population 3,000+) by median household income from the ABS Census to map where Australia’s highest-earning households live — and what it costs to buy a house there. Unsurprisingly, the wealth concentrates in a handful of harbourside and riverside enclaves.

Rankings cover 50 suburbs and exclude records flagged as anomalous, stale (pre-2022) or based on very small samples (population under 3,000). Figures are indicative and reflect the most recent published data per suburb. Not financial advice — always do your own due diligence.
